Quetta, October 14, 2025:
Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail will address a one-day Breast Cancer Awareness Seminar at BUITEMS University on October 16, organized in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO). The seminar, titled “Breast Cancer: Awareness and Prevention,” aims to promote public understanding of early diagnosis and women’s health.
The Governor emphasized that awareness is the first step toward wellness, adding that early detection remains the most effective treatment. Highlighting that Balochistan’s population is small yet widely dispersed, he called for comprehensive awareness drives across the province on breast cancer and other major health issues.
Governor Mandokhail noted that strengthening basic health units at the district level is essential and that lady health workers can play a pivotal role in spreading awareness among women. Encouraging mothers toward breastfeeding is equally vital, he added, as timely diagnosis greatly improves survival chances.
He acknowledged that cancer treatment is costly worldwide and underscored the importance of prevention and timely medical consultation. Chief Organizer Tehni Javed stated that preparations for the seminar are in their final phase, and senior doctors will deliver research-based presentations on awareness and prevention.
