Independent Report
QUETTA, Oct 14, :
In a landmark development, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Balochistan and the Government of Balochistan have successfully transferred 1,019,969 acres of precious state-owned land to the Forest Department, safeguarding assets worth billions of rupees from land mafias and illegal encroachments.
According to the report, in the first phase alone, 605,343 acres in eight districts have been transferred. The land’s estimated market value stands at Rs 1,373 billion, while its DC value is approximately Rs 1,334 billion. Officials described the move as the largest legal protection of forest land in Balochistan’s history, the first such initiative since 1890.
The provincial government has formally thanked NAB Balochistan through a letter of appreciation, acknowledging its oversight and guidance, as well as the effective administrative role of the Board of Revenue Balochistan.
It further highlighted that Forest Settlement Boards and Forest Tribunals have been established across multiple districts to ensure fair resolution of land disputes and to address the concerns of local tribes and communities.
The government clarified that this milestone was achieved through a transparent process, continuous coordination, and professional cooperation between NAB Balochistan and the Board of Revenue. The initiative marks a new era in the legal protection of the province’s natural resources and environmental assets.
