Independent Report
Swat, October 15, 2025
A mild earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale struck Swat’s Mingora city and surrounding areas on Tuesday, sparking fear and panic among residents who rushed outdoors for safety.
According to the Seismological Centre, the quake originated 47 kilometers below the surface with its epicenter located in the hilly region near Mingora.
The tremors were felt across Swat and neighboring districts, though no casualties or property damage have been reported so far. Many residents recited Kalma Tayyaba as the ground shook, recalling similar incidents in recent weeks.
Local authorities have placed emergency teams on alert and are monitoring the situation closely. Experts have reiterated that the Hindu Kush mountain range remains a highly sensitive seismic zone, where tremors are frequently recorded due to tectonic movements.
This latest quake follows a series of recent tremors across northern Pakistan, including in Quetta, Peshawar, and other regions, underlining the need for heightened preparedness and monitoring.
