Saudi Crown Prince Announces “King Salman Gate” Project in Makkah to Enhance Pilgrim Experience and Urban Development

Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of RUA AlHaram AlMakki Company, officially announced the “King Salman Gate” project in the holy city of Makkah.

The project, located directly behind Masjid Al-Haram, spans over 12 million square meters and represents a significant step in the city’s expansion and modern urban planning. Its innovative design and infrastructure aim to improve access to Masjid Al-Haram for pilgrims while aligning with the Pilgrim Experience Program to ensure comfort, convenience, and satisfaction.

King Salman Gate will serve as a unique hub for tourism, residential, commercial, and cultural activities. The project includes a modern public transport network to accommodate millions of pilgrims from around the world and will provide additional capacity for over 900,000 worshippers.

The development blends Makkah’s historical architectural heritage with modern living standards. It includes a 19,000 square meter cultural space designed to enrich the spiritual journey of pilgrims. Under Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, the project is expected to generate over 300,000 new jobs by 2036, contributing significantly to the Kingdom’s long-term economic growth.

The project is being executed by RUA AlHaram AlMakki Company, part of the Public Investment Fund (PIF). The company aims to set global benchmarks for urban planning in Makkah, ensuring international standards of innovation, sustainability, and heritage preservation while enhancing the quality of life for residents and visitors.
