Islamabad, October 16, 2025:
The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) successfully thwarted a major drug smuggling attempt at Islamabad International Airport (IIAP) by apprehending a British citizen of Pakistani origin who had arrived from Thailand.

During a thorough baggage inspection, ANF officials recovered over 11.182 kilograms of Weed and 3.616 kilograms of Cannabis, expertly concealed within various packing materials. The seized narcotics are estimated to be worth approximately PKR 10.6 million in the local market.

Initial interrogation revealed that the suspect intended to smuggle the recovered drugs to Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). The accused further confessed that his accomplice, based in Dhudial, AJK, was involved in supplying drugs to students of educational institutions and young individuals.

A case has been registered against the accused under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act (CNSA) 1997, and further investigation is ongoing.

This arrest underscores the rising threat of synthetic and plant-based narcotics, such as Weed and Cannabis, being used to target the youth under the guise of modern lifestyle trends.

The ANF reaffirmed its unwavering resolve to keep educational institutions drug-free, maintaining strict surveillance, intelligence-driven operations, and close coordination with law enforcement agencies to protect the young generation from the destructive impact of narcotics
