The tragic incident occurred on October 10, when four armed robbers snatched a car from a young man, Adnan Mugsi, in Karachi’s Sachal area and killed him while fleeing. During the subsequent chase, police teams from East Karachi, Hyderabad, and Jamshoro engaged the suspects in a gun battle near M-9 Motorway, Jamshoro, resulting in all four suspects being killed and the snatched vehicles recovered.

In recognition of the swift and successful operation, the IG Sindh announced cash rewards and appreciation certificates for the officers and personnel involved.

During the event, Additional IGP Karachi, DIG Hyderabad, and DIG East also addressed the gathering, commending the operation as a reflection of professionalism, coordination, and use of modern technology.

> “This successful operation was made possible through timely information sharing and effective coordination,” said DIG East, adding that both communication and bravery played vital roles.

“These ruthless criminals took the life of an innocent youth over a vehicle, and bringing them to justice reflects the police’s commitment and professionalism,” said Additional IGP Karachi, while emphasizing the public’s growing confidence in the police.

IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon, in his address, praised the officers and underscored the importance of sacrifice and modernization in policing:

“Our martyrs have made the highways safe even at night; citizens now travel with confidence, which is built on the blood of our heroes.”

“This operation is a matter of pride for Sindh Police,” he added. “The cooperation between Karachi, Hyderabad, and Jamshoro police was exemplary.”

He also highlighted the importance of technology in future policing, saying:

“We must simplify our policing through modern technology. The IT Wing of Sindh Police is doing excellent work, developing software that is already benefiting the force.”

“The future of policing is technology-driven,” the IG emphasized, announcing that after Karachi, the Safe City Project will be expanded to other cities.

He also directed all district officers to install surveillance cameras at key installations, highways, markets, and public places in collaboration with local stakeholders until the Safe City Project becomes operational.

At the conclusion, IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon distributed commendation certificates and cash rewards among the DIGs of Hyderabad and East Karachi, SSPs of Hyderabad, East, Jamshoro, and other officers and personnel who took part in the successful operation.
