Muzaffarabad, Oct 18,
The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) – AJK & Pakistan Chapter has announced that October 27 will be observed across Azad Jammu and Kashmir as Black Day with utmost seriousness and commitment, to protest against India’s illegal occupation and to reaffirm the Kashmiris’ inalienable right to self-determination.

APHC AJK Secretary Information Mushtaq Ahmed Butt stated that October 27, 1947 marks the darkest day in Kashmir’s history, when India violated international laws and the will of the Kashmiri people by forcibly deploying its troops in the valley. Since then, Kashmiris have endured decades of oppression, occupation, and severe human rights violations.

He said that, in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir Liberation Cell (under AJK Government), rallies, seminars, awareness campaigns, and protest demonstrations will be held across the region. These events aim to expose Indian atrocities and remind the international community of its obligation under UN resolutions to ensure a just and peaceful settlement of the Kashmir dispute.

The central event will be held in Muzaffarabad, led by APHC Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi, attended by representatives of the AJK government, Hurriyat leaders, political figures, scholars, students, and civil society members. Participants will carry black flags and banners condemning the Indian occupation and renewing their pledge for freedom.

The day will also feature photo exhibitions, documentary screenings, torch-bearing rallies, and special prayer gatherings to pay tribute to the martyrs of Kashmir and honor their sacrifices for freedom.

Butt added that the AJK Government is extending full support for these activities, while social and electronic media awareness campaigns are underway to educate the younger generation about the historical significance of October 27 and the message of the Kashmir freedom movement.

In his concluding remarks, he appealed to Kashmiris in AJK, Pakistan, and around the world to participate actively in Black Day events and express solidarity with their oppressed brethren in occupied Kashmir.

The statement reaffirmed that Kashmiris’ right to self-determination is recognized under UN resolutions, and their struggle will continue until complete freedom from Indian occupation is achieved.
