President Asif Ali Zardari has paid rich tribute to Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and all martyrs of democracy on the 18th anniversary of the tragic Karsaz incident, terming their courage and sacrifice an eternal source of inspiration for the nation.
In his message, the President said that Shaheed Benazir Bhutto returned to Pakistan on this day in 2007 despite serious threats to her life, displaying unmatched commitment to the cause of democracy and the people of Pakistan.
He said that following the terrorist attack at Karsaz, she remained steadfast in her mission, visiting hospitals and neighborhoods the next day to meet the injured and console the bereaved families — a reflection of her compassion, courage, and unbreakable bond with her people.
President Zardari added that from that day until her martyrdom, Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto’s life, struggle, and sacrifice have continued to serve as a guiding light for all who believe in democracy, peace, and justice.
He emphasized that as the nation continues its fight against terrorism and extremism, the courage and sacrifice of the martyrs of Karsaz strengthen Pakistan’s collective resolve to eliminate all forces of hatred and violence.
