ANF Nationwide Crackdown: 9 Arrested Including Woman and Afghan National — Drugs Worth Over Rs 12 Crore Seized

ISLAMABAD, October 20 — The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has launched a massive countrywide crackdown against drug traffickers, arresting nine accused including a woman and an Afghan national during ten operations conducted around educational institutions and across major cities of Pakistan. The ANF recovered a total of 200 kilograms of various narcotics worth more than Rs 12 crore 36 lakh in the international market. According to an ANF spokesperson, the operations were part of a special campaign to curb the rising trend of drug supply near educational institutions. During an operation near Chenab Toll Plaza in Gujrat, ANF officials recovered 4.320 kilograms of heroin and 400 grams of ice from a woman, while in another raid near a university located in Farooq Azam Colony, Attock, 600 grams of hashish were seized from a motorcyclist. The arrested suspects confessed to selling drugs to students of educational institutions.

In international drug interdiction operations, ANF recovered 13,000 Xanax tablets weighing 1.99 kilograms concealed in sweet boxes from the luggage of a passenger travelling to Riyadh at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi. At a courier office on Tariq Road in Karachi, 1.620 kilograms of heroin were recovered from a parcel sent from the United Kingdom, while in Amir Town, Canal Road, Lahore, 990 grams of ice were recovered from a parcel destined for Australia, which had been soaked in small pieces of cloth and stitched inside the front upper portion of shoes. In another operation at a courier office in Chaklala Garrison, Rawalpindi, 14 grams of weed were recovered concealed in toys inside a parcel sent from America.

Under domestic and inter-provincial operations, ANF teams recovered 2.59 kilograms of heroin and 2.1 kilograms of ice from a vehicle near Kamra Road, Attock, arresting two suspects including an Afghan national. Similarly, 14.4 kilograms of hashish were recovered from a vehicle near Hazara Expressway, Thakot, where two men were arrested, while 86 kilograms of heroin and 80 kilograms of hashish were seized during a raid near the Western Bypass, Hazarganji, Quetta. In another successful action near Lakpass Toll Plaza, Quetta, ANF recovered five kilograms of ice from a vehicle and arrested two suspects. All cases have been registered under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act (CNSA) 1997, and further investigations are underway to identify and dismantle the networks involved in inter-provincial and international drug trafficking.
