Quetta, October 21, 2025:
Provincial Advisor for Women Development, Dr. Rubaba Khan Buledi, inaugurated Balochistan’s first Anti-Rape Crisis Cells at the Civil Sandeman Provincial Hospital and Bolan Medical Complex Hospital, established with the support of UN Women.
Speaking at the inauguration, Dr. Buledi said the establishment of these crisis cells is a revolutionary initiative aimed at protecting women and children and providing integrated support to survivors of sexual violence.
She said the initiative falls under the Women Development Department’s vision, directed by Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti, to eliminate gender-based violence and ensure swift access to justice for victims.
Dr. Buledi added that, for the first time in the province’s history, these centers will provide medical aid, psychological counseling, legal assistance, and police support under one roof. The centers are designed to accelerate legal proceedings and offer timely, comprehensive assistance to victims.
She expressed gratitude to UN Women for their technical and administrative support and reaffirmed that the provincial government is committed to empowering women and safeguarding their rights.
The advisor also announced plans to expand such crisis centers to other districts across Balochistan to ensure that women and children throughout the province have access to timely help and justice.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by representatives from the Health Department, civil society, and the United Nations, who hailed the initiative as a milestone for women’s protection and empowerment in Balochistan.
