PESHAWAR, Oct 22: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi chaired an important meeting of the Food Department, where he was briefed in detail on the availability and prices of wheat and sugar across the province.
During the briefing, the Chief Minister directed the department to take effective measures to curb hoarding and artificial price hikes, ensuring that essential food commodities are available to citizens at official rates.
Afridi also instructed the department to write to the Punjab government to ensure the free and uninterrupted movement of wheat and flour between the two provinces.
He termed the obstruction of wheat and flour transportation to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa a violation of the Constitution, emphasizing that citizens must not suffer due to inter-provincial political differences.
“The purpose of this correspondence is to guarantee the free movement of wheat and flour between Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the benefit of the people,” the Chief Minister stated, accusing the Punjab government of depriving citizens of their basic rights under the guise of political disagreements.
Afridi further instructed authorities to ensure the sale of food items strictly at official prices and ordered the immediate registration of all warehouses across the province to enhance monitoring and transparency.
