Sindh Government’s Successful Peace Mission: Over 70 Criminals Surrender to Law Enforcement

Shikarpur: In a landmark move under the Sindh Police Surrender Policy 2025, over 70 notorious criminals have voluntarily surrendered to authorities, marking a major milestone in the province’s efforts to restore law and order. The ceremony was held at the SSP Shikarpur Office, attended by Sindh Interior Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjhar as the chief guest, along with IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon, DIG Larkana and Sukkur, senior police officials, and officers from Sindh Rangers.

Speaking at the event, Interior Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjhar said that the Surrender Policy has officially commenced, congratulating the local police and citizens of Shikarpur for their cooperation. He praised the surrendering criminals for their responsible action, noting that after completing their sentences, they will reintegrate as law-abiding citizens. He urged them to ensure that their children receive proper education and build a bright future.

The ceremony was also attended by Sindh Assembly members Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh, Shaharyar Mehr, Abid Bhayo, Gul Muhammad Jakhrani, and other PPP leaders.

DIG Larkana, Nasir Aftab, stated that over 70 criminals handed over 209 weapons, including 62 G3 rifles, 97 SMGs, 48 double-barrel guns, 2 RPG-7s, and heavy weapons such as RR-75 anti-tank and 12.7 anti-aircraft guns. The total bounty on the surrendered criminals exceeded PKR 60 million.

IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon highlighted that law and order in Sindh is gradually improving, with abductions for ransom nearly eradicated. During operations, 171 criminals were killed and 421 others were arrested, reflecting the success of coordinated police and Rangers efforts.

The Interior Minister also lauded the bravery and achievements of police and Rangers personnel, paying tribute to fallen officers. He urged other criminals to surrender voluntarily, warning of strict action for non-compliance.

The ceremony also highlighted successful operations in the region, including Operation Garhi Teghu, Kot Shaho, Jagan, Kalahuro (Madiji), and Bigarji (Sukkur), which significantly reduced criminal activity in these areas.
