QUETTA, Oct. 25:
Governor of Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail inaugurated the three-day Conference and Exhibition organized by the Institute of Architects Pakistan (IAP) Quetta Chapter, highlighting the vital role of engineering and construction in national progress and development.
Addressing a large gathering of architects, engineers, and builders, the governor said that the engineering sector holds special importance in the nation’s journey toward modernization and prosperity. “By harnessing the hidden potential of our engineers and builders, we can secure a bright and self-reliant future for Pakistan,” he remarked.
Governor Mandokhail praised the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) for its high construction standards and innovative urban planning, describing it as a symbol of modern and elegant city design in Pakistan. He said the timely completion of DHA Quetta will enhance local infrastructure and bring significant economic benefits to the region.
Emphasizing technological transformation, the governor called upon engineers to guide the government in adopting solar energy systems and reducing dependence on traditional power sources. He also encouraged the use of 3D printing in construction to minimize unnecessary use of cement, steel, and brick materials.
Governor Mandokhail urged senior professionals to introduce training and scholarship programs for Balochistan’s university students, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI) and information technology (IT), to help them acquire modern engineering skills and participate in the country’s technological advancement.
Earlier, the governor formally inaugurated the exhibition and visited various stalls showcasing innovative architectural designs and engineering models.
The event was attended by IAP Chairman Nasir Ijaz, Deputy Chairman Saif Dotani, DHA Quetta Chief Engineer Ahmed Aziz, Fawad Sohail Abbasi, BUITEMS Engineering Department Chairman Engr. Naveed Marwat, and a large number of engineers and builders from across Pakistan.
