PESHAWAR, Oct. 25 —

An important meeting of the senior leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was held at the Chief Minister’s House, Peshawar, chaired by Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi. The meeting was attended by PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Speaker of the KP Assembly Babar Saleem Swati, Provincial President Junaid Akbar, former Speaker of the National Assembly Asad Qaiser, and other senior leaders.

The participants reviewed the deteriorating law and order situation in the province and expressed serious concern over the recent Hangu bomb blast, which claimed the lives of several police personnel. They offered Fateha for the martyrs and conveyed solidarity with the bereaved families.

The meeting resolved to convene a “Peace Jirga” in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, which will include former chief ministers, governors, religious scholars, tribal elders, civil society members, lawyers, and other stakeholders. The purpose of the Jirga is to evolve a joint provincial strategy for the eradication of terrorism and restoration of lasting peace, particularly amid growing concerns over the federal government’s negligence in assisting the province’s security efforts.

Chief Minister Sohail Afridi reaffirmed that the provincial government stands shoulder to shoulder with the police and that providing modern equipment, advanced training, and sufficient resources to the force remains his top priority. He emphasized that no compromise will be made on internal security, and that the province will take all necessary steps even if the federation fails to fulfill its responsibilities.

The Chief Minister’s Secretariat also announced that Muhammad Sohail Afridi will visit District Karak on October 26 at 1:00 PM to address a public gathering at Lawaghar Park, Takht-e-Nasrati
