Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti Orders Acceleration of Loang Dam Project to Ensure Water Security and Agricultural Growth in Balochistan

Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti has directed the concerned departments to expedite work on the Loang Dam project, terming it vital for water conservation and the province’s agricultural development.

Presiding over a high-level meeting, the Chief Minister was briefed by relevant officials on the progress of the project. He emphasized that “water development projects are the guarantors of Balochistan’s agricultural future.”

He stated that the provincial government is implementing a modern strategy to ensure the effective utilization and storage of water resources. “Projects like Loang Dam are symbols of farmers’ prosperity and economic stability,” he added.

Chief Minister Bugti highlighted that the government’s focus is on increasing the availability of usable water and improving agricultural productivity. “These initiatives will serve as milestones in maintaining environmental balance and strengthening the rural economy,” he remarked.

According to the briefing, the Loang Dam project—costing Rs. 2.15 billion—is being implemented with the assistance of the Asian Development Bank. Upon completion, it will irrigate 54,000 acres of agricultural land and generate 4.8 megawatts of electricity, contributing significantly to the province’s water and energy needs.
