University of Gwadar, Chinese Firm Ink Strategic MoU to Boost Industry-Academia Linkages and Job Creation
The University of Gwadar (UG) has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Chinese enterprise Hangeng to strengthen academia-industry collaboration, enhance research partnerships, and generate new employment and scholarship opportunities for local students and graduates, according to Gwadar Pro.
The agreement was signed during a meeting between a UG delegation and Hangeng’s Chief Executive Officer, Liao Longtai, who reaffirmed the company’s commitment to empowering Gwadar’s youth through education and professional development initiatives.
“Hangeng has been operational for a year and is now expanding its production capacity. We are eager to recruit skilled graduates from the University of Gwadar and support them through scholarships and training programs,” said Mr. Liao.
Under the MoU, Hangeng will offer merit-based scholarships to outstanding UG students and jointly organize a Job Fair to recruit local graduates, particularly in veterinary sciences, management, and computer science.
Mr. Liao requested Dr. Dolat Khan, Registrar of the University of Gwadar, to coordinate the upcoming job fair upon finalization of Hangeng’s available positions.
The meeting was also attended by Musaib, Personal Secretary to the Pro Vice Chancellor of UG, and Mr. Razzaq, Project Director at Hangeng Company.
The collaboration marks a significant step toward bridging academia and industry in Balochistan, aligning with Pakistan-China cooperation goals under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework.
