Speaker Sindh Assembly Meets Iranian Consul General to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation
Consul General Akbar Eissa Zadeh discusses upcoming visit of Iranian Speaker and proposes joint economic initiative

KARACHI: Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran, His Excellency Akbar Eissa Zadeh, called on Speaker Provincial Assembly of Sindh, Syed Awais Qadir Shah, at his office in the Sindh Assembly on Monday.
The Consul General was accompanied by Mr. Khosravi, Director General of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran, while Dr. Fouzia Hameed, Member Provincial Assembly, attended the meeting alongside the Speaker.
During the meeting, Speaker Syed Awais Qadir Shah warmly welcomed the visiting delegation and exchanged greetings. His Excellency Akbar Eissa Zadeh conveyed condolences on the demise of former Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani and delivered a message of solidarity from Mr. Fada Hossein Maleki, Chairman of the Iran-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group.
The Iranian Consul General underlined the longstanding cultural, religious, and economic ties between Pakistan and Iran, expressing his country’s keen interest in expanding bilateral trade and cooperation.
He also informed that the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran, His Excellency Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, is expected to visit Pakistan soon, where he will meet with the President, Prime Minister, Chief of Army Staff, and the Speaker of the National Assembly. The Iranian Speaker is also scheduled to visit Karachi on Friday and meet Speaker Syed Awais Qadir Shah.
His Excellency Akbar Eissa Zadeh further shared that the Iranian Speaker intends to launch a joint economic initiative and proposed that Speaker Syed Awais Qadir Shah lead the Sindh Chapter of this new forum, comprising prominent business representatives.
Appreciating the proposal, Speaker Syed Awais Qadir Shah said he had already discussed the upcoming visit with the Speaker of the National Assembly and suggested hosting the Iranian delegation at the Sindh Assembly, where Members and Ministers could jointly welcome the dignitaries and offer them a tour of the legislative chambers.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Speaker Syed Awais Qadir Shah presented the official legacy shield of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh to the visiting delegation and adorned them with traditional Sindhi Ajrak and Topi as a gesture of Sindh’s hospitality. In return, His Excellency Akbar Eissa Zadeh presented a token of appreciation to the Speaker.
