Islamabad Food Authority Seals 51 Restaurants, Imposes Over Rs 2.5 Million Fines in October Crackdown

The Islamabad Food Authority (IFA) has released its October performance report, highlighting extensive inspections and strict enforcement actions to ensure food safety across the federal capital.

According to the report, the Authority inspected 1,058 restaurants and food outlets during the month. Due to poor food quality and hygiene violations, 144 restaurants were fined a total of Rs 2.505 million, while 51 eateries were sealed for preparing unsafe and unhygienic food.

The IFA also took immediate action on 26 public complaints, ensuring swift responses against violators. Additionally, 280 restaurants and shops were issued licenses during the same period.

The Authority disposed of 178 kilograms of unsafe meat, 191 liters of contaminated beverages, 78 liters of expired products, and 25,000 liters of adulterated milk.

Director General Dr. Tahira Siddique reaffirmed that the Islamabad Food Authority remains committed to ensuring safe and hygienic food in the federal capital. She urged citizens to cooperate with the Authority and report any instances of unhealthy or unsafe food.

Deputy Director of the Authority added that a citywide crackdown based on intelligence reports is ongoing to protect consumers from substandard food products.
