CM Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Orders Expedited Construction of Tehsil and District Complexes in Merged Districts
Independent Report
Peshawar, November 6, 2025 (Independent Report): Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi chaired a high-level meeting of the Communication and Works Department, directing authorities to complete land acquisition for Tehsil and District Complexes in the merged districts within one month and to initiate construction by December.
During the briefing, the Chief Minister emphasized that the provincial government is determined to accelerate development in merged districts despite financial constraints. He ordered a comprehensive review of all ongoing development projects, including those in flood-affected areas, and sought detailed reports on reconstruction funds.
Afridi instructed officials to categorize all development schemes according to their completion timelines and to ensure that projects nearing completion receive full funding for timely inauguration. “Projects close to completion must be prioritized so that the public can begin to benefit without delay,” he stressed.
The Chief Minister categorically stated that no compromise on the quality of development work will be tolerated, urging departmental officers to enhance field visits and speed up project implementation across the province.
He also expressed concern over the federal government’s shortfall in development funding for merged districts, noting that although Rs 100 billion was pledged annually, only Rs 158 billion has been received over the past seven years.
Afridi reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to ensuring transparent utilization of development funds and improving infrastructure, governance, and public service delivery in the merged areas.
