New Dean of Agriculture Faculty at Lasbela University Vows to Boost Research, Innovation, and Farmer Empowerment

The newly appointed Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences (LUAWMS), Professor Dr. Muhammad Rashid (PhD, New Zealand), expressed his commitment to advancing academic and research excellence during a meeting with journalist and Jam Group member, Aziz-ur-Rehman Yousafzai.

During the meeting, Dr. Rashid was warmly congratulated on his appointment as Dean and extended best wishes for his new role.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rashid said he is determined to address all academic and administrative challenges under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Abdul Malik Tareen. He described Dr. Tareen as a visionary and student-friendly educationist devoted to improving the university’s academic standards and global standing.

Dr. Rashid emphasized that under the Vice Chancellor’s leadership, LUAWMS is making remarkable progress, with new academic programs being introduced across faculties. He noted that the Faculty of Agriculture has also opened admissions for students from engineering backgrounds to promote interdisciplinary education and research.

Highlighting his priorities, Dr. Rashid stated that the foremost goal is to ensure that agricultural students engage in modern research and practical innovation to directly benefit the farming community. He stressed that empowering farmers through scientific advancement will enhance agricultural productivity and improve the socio-economic conditions of rural areas in Balochistan.

He further shared that the Faculty of Agriculture currently offers both BS and MPhil programs, providing students with quality education, hands-on training, and advanced research opportunities.

Concluding his remarks, Dr. Rashid said that LUAWMS represents a beacon of hope for Balochistan’s youth — a place where modern scientific learning, innovation, and research come together to open new horizons for sustainable agricultural and environmental development in the province.
