KARACHI: Port Qasim Authority (PQA), Pakistan’s second-largest port, has been honored with the Excellence Award at PIMEC-II 2025 for its outstanding contribution to the country’s maritime and energy sectors.
PQA handles nearly 48% of Pakistan’s dry and liquid cargo and 90% of edible oil imports, while also being the only port managing LNG shipments in the country. Recently, the World Bank’s Container Port Performance Index (CPPI) 2024 ranked Port Qasim as the world’s ninth most improved port, underscoring its operational efficiency and strategic importance.
Looking ahead, the Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs announced plans to establish a state-of-the-art Marine Industrial Complex at Port Qasim, featuring shipbuilding, ship recycling, and eco-friendly technology projects. The initiative aims to strengthen Pakistan’s blue economy and promote sustainable maritime growth.
