Deadlock in Pakistan-Afghanistan Talks in Istanbul — Pakistan Thanks Türkiye and Qatar for Mediation, Reaffirms Responsibility Lies with Kabul
Islamabad / Istanbul, November 7, 2025:
The talks between Pakistan and Afghanistan held in Istanbul have ended in a deadlock, with no substantial progress achieved. Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar confirmed that despite efforts from both sides, key differences remain unresolved.
Minister Tarar expressed Pakistan’s gratitude to Türkiye and Qatar for their constructive mediation efforts during the dialogue, acknowledging their role in facilitating the discussions.
He reiterated Pakistan’s principled stance that the responsibility to curb terrorism emanating from Afghan soil lies squarely with the Afghan authorities.
“The Afghan Taliban have so far failed to fulfill their international, regional, and bilateral commitments under the Doha Peace Agreement of 2021,” the minister stated.
Attaullah Tarar emphasized that Pakistan continues to maintain goodwill toward the Afghan people and sincerely wishes for a peaceful and stable Afghanistan.
He further asserted that Pakistan will not support any actions by the Taliban government that go against the interests of the Afghan people or neighboring countries.
“Pakistan will continue to take all necessary measures to safeguard its people, borders, and national sovereignty,” Tarar concluded.
