SHANGHAI, Nov 9 : Pakistan’s jewelry sector continued to shine at the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE), with Winza, a leading Pakistani company, participating for the seventh consecutive year — this time focusing on expanding its footprint in China’s fast-growing colored gemstone market.

The company has strategically established five branded stores and three offices in key Chinese cities including Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, demonstrating Pakistan’s growing engagement in China’s luxury and jewelry segments, according to a report by China Economic Net (CEN).

Speaking at the event, Ahmed Aqeel, head of Winza, highlighted shifting consumer preferences:

> “Colored gemstones such as rubies and sapphires are increasingly becoming the preferred choice among the younger generation — not only for weddings but also as part of personal collections.”

He noted that this evolving trend signifies both the diversification and maturation of China’s jewelry market, offering Pakistan immense opportunities to export high-quality gemstones and strengthen its brand presence.

With China’s per capita GDP surpassing US$13,000, demand for premium, personalized products continues to grow. This aligns with national economic priorities, as the 2024 Central Economic Work Conference identified boosting domestic consumption and improving investment efficiency as major tasks for 2025.

The 15th Five-Year Plan also underscored the development of a strong domestic market and a new growth model, further emphasizing the role of high-value imports like gemstones in China’s evolving consumer landscape.

The CIIE has become a vital window into China’s consumption potential, with foreign enterprises shifting their approach from “whether to enter” to “how to deepen engagement.” Global brands are increasingly using the platform for product launches, brand awareness, and localization strategies tailored to regional consumer habits.

The report also highlighted other sectors showcasing innovation at CIIE, including the Good Farmer Group, which introduced organic Peruvian blueberries as part of its expanding premium food offerings. According to the company’s e-commerce manager Jiang Lei, this reflects Chinese consumers’ growing emphasis on health, safety, and premium quality.

Infrastructure advancements such as the China–Peru Chancay Port, a key Belt and Road project, have further boosted global trade efficiency — reducing shipping time to 23 days and logistics costs by more than 20%.

Pakistan’s continued participation at CIIE underscores its intent to deepen trade ties with China and promote its unique gemstone heritage within one of the world’s largest and most dynamic jewelry markets.
