Quetta: An All-Parties Conference, hosted by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam at its Quetta office, raised concerns that upcoming local body elections may be held under fear, threats, and Section 144 restrictions, undermining transparency.

Participants said any attempt to conduct elections based on Form 47 would not be accepted, and a joint committee of political parties was formed to address electoral and city issues, including load shedding, water shortages, and law and order. The committee will hold further consultations with the Governor, Chief Minister, Chief Secretary, and Election Commission to ensure fair elections and address basic civic problems.

The conference also condemned the arrest of local PTI leaders, calling it an attempt to suppress legitimate political activity, and warned that holding elections in such an environment would raise serious doubts about credibility.
