Okara District Authorities Conduct Market Inspections, Fines Imposed on Shops and Petrol Pumps for Short-Weighing
Okara: District Officer Industries, Prices, Weights, and Measures, Khalid Javed Bhatti, led a comprehensive inspection campaign in Okara on Wednesday, targeting shops, petrol stations, and commercial centers for compliance with proper weighing and measuring standards.
The inspections were carried out under directives from the Director General Industries Punjab to ensure fairness and transparency in the market. Businesses found guilty of short-weighing or using inaccurate scales were immediately fined.
Inspector Weights and Measures, Nemat Shehzad, played a key role during the campaign, focusing especially on sugar mills to guarantee farmers receive the correct weight during the crushing season and to minimize complaints.
Speaking on the campaign, Khalid Javed Bhatti stressed that any deception in measuring essential commodities will not be tolerated. He confirmed that strict penalties will be imposed and inspections will continue across the district to protect public interest and maintain consumer trust.
