Governor Balochistan, Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, announced a historic achievement in the province’s higher education sector, noting a remarkable improvement in the rankings of nearly all public sector universities. Under sustained supervision for the past year, major universities have shown significant progress: Beautums University achieved an 80% score, Women University improved from 37% to 67%, and the University of Balochistan’s score surged from 44% to 76%.
Governor Mandokhail praised Vice Chancellor Dr. Zahoor Bazai and his team for rescuing the University of Balochistan from prolonged crises for the first time in 25 years. He highlighted major reforms, including transitioning to solar energy, closing seven non-essential departments, hosting two international seminars, ensuring timely salaries for faculty, eliminating all illegal and contract-based positions, and centralizing self-finance accounts. Operational costs were reduced by PKR 150 million, and fuel expenses were cut significantly.
He emphasized the launch of a public awareness campaign to further strengthen the university’s governance, highlight reforms, and solidify its reputation as a beacon of academic excellence and hope for Balochistan’s youth.
