Gilgit-Baltistan: Chief Minister Haji Ghulam Bilour Khan emphasized the importance of ensuring that the special customs tax concession provided by the federal government reaches all traders and the general public across Gilgit-Baltistan. Speaking during a special committee meeting on export procedures, the Chief Minister highlighted the need to allocate quotas across all districts, including remote and underdeveloped areas, to maximize the benefits of the tax relief.

The committee meeting included briefings by the Provincial Secretary for Industry and Trade on procedures for exports, alongside suggestions presented by the Chamber of Commerce on behalf of local traders. Chief Minister Haji Ghulam Bilour Khan instructed the Provincial Secretary to consolidate recommendations from the Chamber and the department into actionable proposals within the next two days, in consultation with GB Assembly member Amjad Hussain Advocate. These finalized proposals will be submitted for formal approval in the upcoming cabinet meeting, establishing a clear and structured export framework under the tax concession scheme.

Chamber of Commerce officials praised the Chief Minister’s leadership, noting that his advocacy with the federal government had successfully secured special tax benefits for GB traders in Pak-China trade. They expressed confidence that this forward-looking policy would ensure that the tax concessions directly benefit both local traders and the wider public.

The Chief Minister’s strategic approach and leadership have been widely appreciated for ensuring that Gilgit-Baltistan’s traders and residents receive equitable access to federal incentives, strengthening trade and economic opportunities across the region.
