Honourable Visit: King Abdullah II Witnesses Pakistan’s Defence Excellence, Strengthens Historic Military Ties

His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces, paid an honourable and high-profile visit to Global Industrial & Defence Solutions (GIDS) on Saturday. He was accompanied by Her Royal Highness Princess Salma bint Abdullah II and a senior delegation of Jordanian civil and military officials.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), along with senior Pakistani military leadership, warmly received the royal guests. His Majesty was given a detailed briefing on the structure, capabilities, and cutting-edge defence technologies developed by GIDS. The presentation highlighted Pakistan’s significant advancements in indigenous defence production and ongoing prospects for expanding Pakistan–Jordan defence cooperation.
King Abdullah II later visited the Tilla Field Firing Ranges, where Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif joined the distinguished guests, including Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defence Industry, Mr. Vugar Valeh oglu Mustafayev.

The royal guests witnessed an impressive joint fire and manoeuvre exercise demonstrating multi-domain operations, ground–air coordination, spectrum warfare, and the operational use of multi-role drones in diverse combat settings. His Majesty applauded the professionalism, precision, and operational readiness of the participating troops and aircrews.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, addressing the gathering, conveyed Pakistan’s deep respect and affection for His Majesty and the people of Jordan. He said the visit reflects enduring friendship, mutual trust, and a shared commitment to peace, stability, and development.
The COAS reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong and historic military partnership with the Hashemite Kingdom, reiterating the commitment to enhance defence cooperation and realise a shared vision of regional peace.
Earlier, in a special ceremony, King Abdullah II conferred upon the COAS the Order of the Military Merit (First Degree) in recognition of his distinguished service and significant contributions towards strengthening Pakistan–Jordan defence ties.

His Majesty King Abdullah II is on a two-day official visit to Pakistan, marking an important milestone in reinforcing the deep bonds of fraternity between the two nations.
