Nasirabad/Thambo, 20 November 2025:
Residents of Thambo, the largest town in Tehsil Thambo, Nasirabad District, have raised serious concerns over prolonged neglect, urging authorities to restore essential civic services immediately. Locals highlighted that despite being a historical center of education, Thambo continues to suffer from the after-effects of the 2010 floods, which destroyed much of the town’s infrastructure. Gas supply was cut off during the floods, but bills continue to be issued while residents remain without service. Roads, electricity, gas networks, and the sewage system are in severe disrepair, making daily life increasingly difficult.
Power Outages Leave Hundreds in Darkness
For the past two days, hundreds of villages under the Umrani, Ropa, and Magsi branches have been left without electricity, plunging the area into darkness. Residents reported a rise in theft and other criminal activities during the blackout. Farmers are facing critical challenges during the wheat cultivation season, as irrigation and farming operations have been disrupted. Citizens have demanded that WAPDA Nasirabad and higher authorities take immediate notice and restore electricity across the affected areas without delay.
Call for Government Intervention
The public has urged both the provincial and federal governments to prioritize Thambo’s development and ensure the provision of basic amenities. They emphasized that the town, which has historically produced scholars and professionals, should not be left behind in terms of infrastructure and civic services. Residents insist that coordinated efforts are necessary to rebuild roads, restore electricity, ensure gas supply, and repair the sewage system.
