Gwadar, November 23, 2025:
The Inaugural Inter-Educational Institute Sports Festival 2025 commenced at Mir Abdul Ghafoor Kalmati Cricket Stadium, organized jointly by the Government of Balochistan and the Pakistan Army, with an opening ceremony held at Center Muhammad Ishaq Cricket Stadium.
The event officially began with Major General Habib Nawaz, General Officer Commanding 44 Division, hitting the ceremonial first cricket ball, while DGDA Maeen-ur-Rahman bowled it. The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Inspector General Police Dr. Pervez Imrani, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Dr. Abdul Shakoor, SSP Ata-ur-Rehman, regional leader Mir Arshad Kalmati, other government officials, distinguished guests, and a large number of citizens.
Major General Habib Nawaz, in his address, highlighted the importance of sports in youth development, character building, and talent promotion, stating:
> “Even big players emerge from small towns. Sports instill qualities such as hard work, patience, discipline, and mutual respect among youth. I am confident that Gwadar’s players will shine on the national and international stage.”
He further emphasized that success comes through continuous effort, quality training, and guidance from coaches and teachers, and commended all organizers and parents for encouraging young athletes.
Event host Arshad Kalmati stated that Gwadar’s youth have already demonstrated their potential at the national level, and the festival aims to engage them in constructive and positive activities. He also praised the role of the Pakistan Army and Gwadar Development Authority (GTA) in upgrading the stadium and sports grounds.
All government and private schools, colleges, and universities are participating enthusiastically. The festival, scheduled from November 22 to December 1, 2025, will feature multiple competitions across various sports disciplines.
The opening day concluded with a friendly match between women’s teams, which was highly appreciated by attendees, marking a successful start to the week-long festival.
