Independent Report
Khuzdar, November 23, 2025:
Residents of Khuzdar have raised serious safety concerns over the excessive use of searchlights and additional headlights on vehicles, motorcycles, and rickshaws during nighttime, describing them as a growing cause of road accidents and traffic hazards.
According to locals:
The blinding intensity of these lights disrupts the vision of oncoming drivers, increasing the risk of collisions and creating unsafe conditions on main roads and crowded marketplaces.
Young riders, in particular, have been seen using bright red, white, and neon lights on motorcycles, violating traffic laws and endangering the lives of others.
Residents emphasized that traveling at night has become a major challenge due to these unsafe lighting practices.
In response, citizens have appealed to SSP Khuzdar, Shehzada Umar Abbas Babar, to take immediate measures:
1. Ban the use of illegal and high-intensity searchlights on vehicles and rickshaws.
2. Issue special instructions to traffic police for strict checks on main roads, marketplaces, and entry points.
3. Launch a campaign to remove illegal searchlights and ensure penalties and fines for violators to curb this hazardous trend.
Locals warned that Khuzdar’s roads are already under pressure due to traffic congestion, reckless driving, and encroachments. The addition of excessive lighting further exacerbates the risks, making it essential for authorities to take swift action to protect citizens.
Residents expressed hope that district police will actively enforce safety measures, making nighttime travel in Khuzdar safer for everyone.
