Khuzdar, Balochistan – The devastating floods of 2022 left hundreds of families in Khuzdar and its surrounding tehsils reeling from severe losses. Following the disaster, provincial and district authorities conducted extensive surveys of the affected homes, documenting structural damages, collecting photographic evidence, and compiling detailed records of impacted families.

After the initial survey, victims were informed via messages and phone calls that the Government of Balochistan, in coordination with PDMA, had allocated PKR 400,000 per household as reconstruction grants, which were promised to be disbursed promptly. Contrary to these assurances, no tangible progress was made over the following two years.

In 2024, a second survey was conducted. Families were once again contacted to provide updated information, identification documents, and other necessary details. Victims fully cooperated, and authorities assured them that this time the full amount would be disbursed within two months. Yet, months have passed with neither financial aid delivered nor any official updates provided.

Local families remain deeply frustrated and helpless. Many continue to live in tents, makeshift shelters, and temporary structures, struggling to rebuild their lives after losing everything in the floods. Government announcements of reconstruction grants have remained largely symbolic, with little practical support reaching those in need.

Affected residents have made urgent appeals to Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, Corps Commander Balochistan, Chief Secretary Balochistan, Commissioner Quetta Division, and Deputy Commissioner Khuzdar to take immediate notice of the dire situation.

They are demanding that authorities devise and implement emergency strategies for the prompt disbursement of relief funds so that flood-affected families in Khuzdar can finally begin the reconstruction of their destroyed homes and restore a sense of normalcy to their lives.
