Senate Committee Reviews PCB Infrastructure at National Stadium Karachi
Focus on Development Projects, Security, and Fair Match Distribution Across Cities

KARACHI: The Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat, chaired by Senator Rana Mahmood-ul-Hassan, visited the National Stadium Karachi on 24 November 2025 to assess the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) infrastructure, administration, and ongoing development projects. Senator Amir Waliuddin Chishti also accompanied the delegation as part of the Committee’s scheduled two-day review.

The visit coincided with the IMC Over-40s T20 Cricket World Cup 2025, an international veterans’ tournament featuring teams from 12 countries. Present at the stadium were Fawad Ijaz Khan, Chairman of the Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association, and Stirling Hammon, Chairman of International Masters Cricket.
Senator Rana Mahmood-ul-Hassan appreciated Senator Chishti’s contributions and said the Committee’s focus was to identify areas for improvement in sports infrastructure and facilities. He commended PCB and international teams for restoring sporting vibrancy in Karachi. He also stated that Pakistan is open to hosting India, stressing the need for continued dialogue, sportsmanship, and robust security protocols.

Senator Amir Waliuddin Chishti praised PCB’s efforts to strengthen cricketing infrastructure, noting that Committee visits to Lahore, Karachi, and Multan were aimed at assessing facilities and identifying gaps. He added that the participation of 12 nations in the veterans’ event reflected Pakistan’s improved security environment.
The senators also met former Pakistan captain Abdul Razzaq, senior PCB officials, and the captains of the West Indies and South Africa Over-40s teams.
The Senate Committee will continue its engagements on 25 November with a briefing and visit to the Special Technology Zones Authority (STZA) Karachi, as part of its wider review of public-sector institutions and national development projects.
