QUETTA, Nov 25 — Advisor to the Chief Minister Balochistan for Women Development, Dr. Rubaba Khan Buledi, has said that violence against women harms not only individual victims but also undermines the intellectual, social, and moral strength of society.

In her message marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, she said that abuse in any form — including domestic violence, harassment, intimidation, humiliation, and economic coercion — damages a woman’s dignity, confidence, and personal freedom. She added that women’s challenges extend beyond physical harm and are rooted in societal behaviour, language, environment, opportunities, and power structures.

Dr. Buledi said that when women feel unsafe at home, workplaces, or public spaces, it creates broader instability and imbalance. A society that suppresses half of its population through fear or deprivation cannot progress, she noted.

She reaffirmed that the Balochistan Government is enforcing a zero-tolerance policy against violence, supported by legislation, strengthened institutions, awareness campaigns, helplines, shelter homes, and support mechanisms. She stressed that societal attitudes must evolve to ensure women live secure, dignified, and empowered lives.
