ISLAMABAD, November 25, 2025 — President Asif Ali Zardari said violence against women is a grave human rights violation as he marked the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. He expressed solidarity with women and girls worldwide and stressed that education, skills development, and economic empowerment are essential for their protection. The President said stronger legal frameworks and shifts in social attitudes are necessary, noting this year’s theme focuses on ending digital violence against women and girls. He highlighted Pakistan’s legislative steps, including progress against child marriage in Sindh, Islamabad, and Punjab, and urged remaining provinces to enact effective laws. Zardari said strict enforcement is vital to ensure every woman and girl lives free from fear, paying tribute to survivors, activists, and institutions working to uphold women’s rights.
