Many patients forced to go to Karachi for treatment: Unfortunately we remain unable to build any major modern hospital in Quetta even after 50 years: Governor

QUETTA: The Governor Balochistan, Jaffar Khan Mandokhail has regretfully pointed out that unfortunately we have not been able to build any major modern hospital in Quetta city, even after 50 years.
“Even today, a large number of patients are forced to go to Karachi for treatment, which puts their lives at risk, and some patients even die on the way”, the Governor added emphasizing that “therefore, it is necessary for the government to take immediate action to resolve this pressing issue and ensure that people have access to quality healthcare facilities within their own province.”
He further stated that patients from all districts of the province come to Quetta for treatment, putting heavy burden on all government hospitals in the metropolis.
The Governor was speaking during his visit to the Balochistan Institute of Nephro-Urology Quetta (BINUQ) located on Samungli Road and later to Dar-ul-Shifa Imam Khomeini in Hazara Town, on Wednesday.
On the occasion, the Iranian Consul General based in Quetta, Mohammad Karimi, Chief Executive Officer of BINUQ, Dr. Liaquat Taban, as well as a large number of doctors and paramedical staff were present.
During his visit, Jaffar Khan Mandokhail was briefed about the performance and latest situation of the BINUQ.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor maintained that the purpose of his visit was to review the necessary resources for providing quality care to patients suffering from kidney diseases in the province. He said that it is satisfying that excellent treatment for kidney patients is being provided in the province, for which Dr. Liaquat Agha and his entire team deserve commendation for their tireless efforts. Mandokhail added that the provision of four dialysis machines with the cooperation of the Iranian Consul General would help improve the overall quality of the Institute.
He said that is also a matter of pride that these dialysis machines are manufactured in Iran.
He said he was pleased to see the province’s own female surgeons and physicians serving the people.
Earlier, Jaffar Khan Mandokhail went round of various sections of the hospital.
Later, the Governor visited Dar-ul-Shifa Imam Khomeini in Hazara Town and inspected its different departments.
Speaking to the doctors, paramedical staff and religious scholars present there, Mandokhail said that establishment of this hospital is benefiting the local population, and the six dialysis machines provided with Iran’s cooperation would further ease the difficulties of patients.
Governor urged all philanthropists of the province to play an active role in supporting the people of their province.
