Barkhan, Nov 29: Preparations for the upcoming National Polio Campaign in Barkhan have been completed, with Deputy Commissioner Abdullah Khosa set to inaugurate the four-day drive on 15 December. The Health Department is undertaking extensive measures to eradicate polio in the district.

During the campaign, running from 15 to 18 December 2025, trained health teams will administer polio drops to over 51,000 children under five years of age across the district. Teams will conduct door-to-door visits, covering remote rural areas, hilly terrains, towns, and urban neighborhoods to ensure no child is left unvaccinated. Additional mobile units have also been deployed to extend reach and coverage.

Health officials emphasized that polio is a dangerous virus capable of causing lifelong disability, but timely vaccination can fully protect children from this crippling disease. The district administration and Health Department have urged parents and guardians to ensure their children receive polio drops and fully cooperate with vaccination teams, aiming to make Barkhan permanently polio-free.
