Johannesburg — Angola has inaugurated its first dedicated non-associated gas project, the New Gas Consortium (NGC) Gas Treatment Plant in Soyo, processing 400 million cubic feet of gas per day and 20,000 barrels of condensate from offshore fields Quiluma and Maboqueiro.
Operated by Azule Energy (BP-Eni JV) alongside Cabinda Gulf Oil, Sonangol E&P, and TotalEnergies, the $4 billion plant reached full operations six months ahead of schedule. The project supports exports, domestic power, and industrial growth, while creating thousands of jobs and developing local skills.
President João Lourenço emphasized non-associated gas ensures cleaner energy and additional production. AEC Executive Chairman NJ Ayuk hailed the project as a landmark for Angola and Africa’s energy future.
