Faisalabad Commissioner Opens Commissioner Cup Super 8 Stage, Highlights Grassroots Cricket Talent

Faisalabad — Commissioner Faisalabad Division Raja Jahangir Anwar inaugurated the Commissioner Cup Super 8 stage under the School Talent Hunt Program of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) at Bohra Nawali Ground. The event began with the Commissioner striking the first ball to formally launch the tournament, in which eight school teams are participating. The final match is scheduled for December 15.

Speaking at the ceremony, Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar said that providing opportunities to young players at the grassroots level is a “commendable initiative” that will help nurture future cricketing talent. He also expressed happiness over the formation of Faisalabad’s PSL team, noting that the revival of school cricket will produce promising young players for regional and national platforms.

President of the Faisalabad Regional Cricket Association Rana Muhammad Anis thanked PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, Director Domestic Cricket Khurram Niazi, and all officials involved in organizing the talent hunt. Former association president Hasibullah Shahid, Aziz Ahmed Bhatti, Tariq Bajwa, Aleem Ehsan, District Cricket Association Finance Secretary Zaheer-ul-Hassan, and several other cricket officials were also present.

Former Test cricketer Asad Shafiq visited the matches and praised Mohsin Naqvi’s efforts toward improving cricket infrastructure and opportunities in Faisalabad. Officials reiterated that the School Talent Hunt Program will play a crucial role in discovering new talent for Pakistan’s cricketing future.
