Islamabad Police Strengthen Security Measures Across Commercial Areas

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police have intensified security and traffic management measures across the city’s commercial centers to ensure public safety and smooth operations.

Inspector General (IG) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, held a detailed meeting with a delegation from the business community at the Central Police Office. The discussion focused on security arrangements, traffic management, illegal parking, and challenges faced by citizens in commercial areas. IG Rizvi directed the district administration to coordinate on removing encroachments and illegal stalls, and appointed SP Khalid Mehmood Awan to act as a liaison between police and traders for enhanced cooperation.

“We will establish contact points and rapid response teams in commercial zones to create a safer, organized, and more accessible environment for citizens,” said IG Rizvi.

Separately, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Islamabad, Muhammad Jawad Tariq, chaired a high-level meeting with all SHO officers, including SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza, issuing strict directives to maintain citywide security. The DIG emphasized immediate action against illegal Afghan residents implicated in criminal activities and reinforced a zero-tolerance policy against land grabbers, illegal weapons, and drug traffickers.

Authorities will also conduct targeted operations against gangs involved in serious crimes and groups engaged in car and motorcycle theft. Enhanced patrolling and inspections have been ordered, with citizen concerns prioritized in all policing activities.

DIG Tariq stressed that all officers must remain proactive in maintaining law and order, ensuring Islamabad’s commercial and residential areas remain safe and secure.
