Nasirabad, 7 December — Under the directives of Provincial Irrigation Minister Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umarani and Chief Engineer Canals Nasir Majeed, a large-scale operation was conducted against illegal water theft in the Rabi Canal. Executive Engineer Pit Feeder Canal, Fareed Ahmed Pandrani, oversaw the action, supported by Sub-Divisional Officer Saleem Bahrani, Naib Tehsildar Mehtab Hussain Mari, and FC personnel.
During the operation, multiple illegal water channels were demolished, five electric transformers and heavy water-lifting machinery were seized, and unauthorized oversized pipes were removed. Fareed Ahmed Pandrani stated the action aims to ensure fair and uninterrupted water supply to farmers at the canal’s tail.
He emphasized that water theft harms not just individuals but the entire agricultural community. The irrigation department has adopted a zero-tolerance policy and will continue such operations to protect farmers’ rights and maintain equitable water distribution.
