GILGIT:
The Sports Board Gilgit-Baltistan has issued a comprehensive clarification regarding allegations circulating on social media about the selection process for the 35th National Games, stating that the provincial contingent was prepared strictly in accordance with transparency, merit, and established procedures.
According to the Board, the selection process began with formal consultations between the Director Sports and all relevant provincial sports associations, during which associations submitted their recommendations. Based on these collective recommendations, open-merit trials were held at the Sports Board headquarters in Gilgit, ensuring equal opportunity for every athlete.
The selection committee finalized its decisions with complete transparency across all sports categories, and official records of all selected players are safely maintained by the Sports Board. These athletes subsequently represented Gilgit-Baltistan at the 35th National Games held in Karachi. The Board emphasized that no bias, favoritism, or personal influence was involved at any stage of the process.
The clarification further highlighted that issues arising within certain associations—such as lack of internal elections or interference by specific groups—were unjustly attributed to the Sports Board. It stressed that selections are always carried out according to recommendations provided by the respective associations.
