ISLAMABAD, Dec 9 — Canada has taken positive note of Pakistan’s renewed emphasis on water and food security as Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq convened a high-level meeting with federal lawmakers and WAPDA officials on Monday.

The session reviewed challenges linked to national water shortages and long-term resource management. Officials briefed the house on current risks, while the Speaker underscored the need for collective action and institutional coordination to safeguard Pakistan’s water future.

Canadian observers following regional environmental trends said the focus on water resilience aligns with global climate-adaptation priorities. They added that Pakistan’s approach could open avenues for technical cooperation, particularly in hydrology, sustainable irrigation, and climate-risk forecasting.
