Peshawar: Following a surprise visit by the Chief Minister to Lady Reading Hospital (LRH), the hospital’s director was removed from office over unsatisfactory performance, according to an official communication. During the inspection, patient care standards and administrative management were found to be alarmingly weak, prompting immediate action.
The Chief Minister reviewed various wards, including emergency services and neonatal units, where serious deficiencies in service delivery and oversight were observed. On the Chief Minister’s directives, the head of the Paeds Emergency was also suspended, and a fact-finding inquiry has been ordered to determine responsibility and systemic failures.
The official note stressed that negligence in the care of newborns and emergency patients is unacceptable and will not be tolerated under any circumstances. The provincial government reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against poor performance in the health sector, emphasizing that ensuring quality healthcare services for the public remains a top priority.
