Independent Report
Gilgit, December 17, 2025: Maulana Abdul Sami, leader of Jamaat-e-Islami Gilgit-Baltistan, strongly condemned the act of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar who forcibly removed the niqab of a Muslim woman doctor in India. He described the incident as shameful, Islamophobic, and a blatant attack on the dignity of Muslim women and Islamic injunctions.
Maulana Sami emphasized that wearing the niqab is a religious duty, symbol of identity, and mark of faith, which no authority or government can violate. He said such acts reflect a mindset attempting to strip Muslims of their religious identity, calling it a grave example of moral bankruptcy, state oppression, and humiliation of women.
He urged the international community, human rights organizations, and justice-oriented circles to take notice and act against rising Islamophobia in India. Maulana Sami warned that any continued challenge to Muslim women’s religious identity and niqab will be met with firm action through all legal, constitutional, and moral forums. He reiterated, “The veil is our Sharia, our identity, and our red line.”
Advocate Arifullah, Chairman of the Supreme Council Ghizer, also condemned the incident, calling it a violation of personal dignity, religious freedom, and human rights. He demanded immediate unconditional apology from Bihar CM, strict action against the perpetrator, and measures to protect women and minorities in India.
