PJCA Vice President Muhammad Azmat Shigeyuki Ataka Honored by Japan’s Foreign Minister for Promoting Pakistan-Japan Relations

The Consulate-General of Japan in Karachi announced that Mr. Muhammad Azmat Shigeyuki Ataka, First Vice President of the Pakistan-Japan Cultural Association (PJCA) Sindh, has been awarded the Foreign Minister’s Commendation for his exceptional contributions to promoting Japan-Pakistan relations. The honor recognizes his lifelong dedication to cultural exchange and fostering mutual understanding between the two nations.

During the award ceremony, Consul General Hattori Masaru congratulated Mr. Ataka. He has played a pivotal role in introducing Japanese poetry forms, Haiku and Waka, to Pakistani audiences by creatively integrating them with local traditions such as Mushaira and Raag, establishing these poetic forms as unique literary genres in Pakistan. His work has strengthened cultural ties and deepened public appreciation of Japanese culture.

The Foreign Minister’s Commendation is awarded to individuals who have significantly contributed to advancing Japan’s international relations. This recognition underscores Mr. Ataka’s pivotal role in promoting friendship, cultural understanding, and cooperation between Japan and Pakistan.

The Consulate-General of Japan in Karachi reaffirmed its commitment to further strengthening diplomatic, cultural, and economic ties between the two countries through initiatives in education, business, and cultural exchange.
