Karachi – The Sindh Government has launched a scooter-riding training program to promote women’s mobility and empowerment in Karachi and other cities. Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said the program targets women in Korangi, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and Malir, aiming to enable safe and independent commuting. The initiative, part of the “Pink Scooter” scheme, will also expand to Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Mirpurkhas. Training focuses on road safety, practical riding skills, and confidence-building. Minister Memon emphasized that women’s autonomy is closely tied to access to secure transportation. “Without safe travel options, economic and social empowerment is incomplete,” he said. The program is expected to enhance women’s participation in workplaces, education, and civic life. By providing both technical skills and practical support, the initiative seeks to challenge societal norms, reduce gender-based mobility barriers, and encourage greater female inclusion in public spaces across Sindh.
