Peshawar, December 31, 2025 — The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government launched the E-Abiana App under the Irrigation Department on Wednesday, marking a major step in its Digital Khyber Pakhtunkhwa initiative. Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi inaugurated the app at the Chief Minister House, announcing it as a pilot project in the Mardan Irrigation Division, with plans to roll it out province-wide.
The E-Abiana system fully digitizes Abiana collection, integrating land and water usage data on a single platform. This aims to enhance record accuracy, improve administrative efficiency, and address challenges such as delayed payments, low recovery rates, and operational inefficiencies. Digital dashboards will also facilitate timely oversight and decision-making.
CM Afridi praised the efforts of the Irrigation Department, KP IT Board, and the Department of Science, Technology and IT, describing the launch as a step toward transparency in governance. He emphasized that farmers are key stakeholders in KP’s economy and that the government is prioritizing their concerns while advancing sustainable development.
Highlighting development challenges, the Chief Minister criticized delays in projects like the Chashma Right Bank Lift Canal and the Gabral Hydropower Project, attributing them to federal inaction and bureaucratic hurdles. He also alleged discriminatory treatment against KP by the Federal Government and Punjab administration in fiscal matters. CM Afridi reaffirmed that the PTI-led provincial government remains committed to governance, development, and equitable treatment for all provinces.
