Quetta: Balochistan has entered a new era of infrastructure-led development as work on the transformation of the N-25 National Highway into a modern dual-carriageway expressway accelerates. The project, a flagship initiative backed by Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, is set to significantly enhance the province’s economic, social, and transportation framework.
Construction activities are currently in full swing on the Khuzdar–Wadh section, with engineers, heavy machinery, and hundreds of workers engaged around the clock. Officials emphasized that timely completion of the dual-carriageway is a top government priority, aiming to improve travel safety, cut journey times, and reduce road accidents along the critical Karachi–Chaman corridor.
The N-25 Expressway is expected to serve as a major catalyst for regional trade, tourism, and employment. Improved connectivity will allow students easier access to educational institutions, patients quicker travel to healthcare facilities, and traders more efficient movement of goods. Stakeholders highlighted that faster cargo transport will stimulate local businesses and create economic opportunities across Balochistan.
Local residents welcomed the project, describing it as the realization of a long-standing aspiration. Once completed, the expressway will provide safer, faster, and more comfortable travel, linking urban and rural areas and strengthening the province’s role in national connectivity.
Government authorities have issued strict directives to ensure accelerated progress, underscoring a commitment to transparency, efficiency, and adherence to timelines. Analysts describe the N-25 dualization as a transformative initiative that will reinforce Balochistan’s economic stability, promote sustainable development, and secure long-term prosperity for the province and its people.
