Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Quetta on Thursday on a one-day official visit aimed at reviewing the overall situation in Balochistan. Upon arrival at Quetta International Airport, the Prime Minister was accorded a warm welcome by Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti.
Senior federal leaders accompanying the Prime Minister included Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Planning and Development Professor Ahsan Iqbal, Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq, and Federal Minister Rana Sanaullah. Senior provincial officials were also present at the airport reception.
The visit is part of the federal government’s continued engagement with the province to assess governance, development initiatives, and the prevailing security environment. During his stay, the Prime Minister is scheduled to hold key meetings with provincial leadership, review progress on ongoing development projects, and discuss measures aimed at strengthening peace, stability, and socio-economic development in Balochistan.
The federal leadership has repeatedly emphasized Balochistan’s strategic importance and the need for sustained federal support to address long-standing challenges faced by the province.
